Ask Udder Smith: Respect for Age Day

September 21, 2010

Dear Readers:

Udder would like to take this week, with Monday a Japanese celebration of respect for the aged, and Thursday the Autumn Equinox, to respect our wise bovine elders, entering into their autumnal years of prudence:

For your patient acceptance of passing time, your grazing observations;

For your generous spirit of giving and nourishment;

For your sturdy calm in the face of life’s cowlamities;

For your falling, fleeting beauty;

Thank you, my revered ones, for your wisdom and guidance.

Yours,

Udder
